about

Matthew Herbert’s Accidental Records announce a compilation of experimental, leftfield and neo-classical music from a new generation of progressive composers and producers. Antechamber Music weaves through electronica, fragmented otherworldly jazz and bubbling polyrhythmic synths alongside classical harps and strings, all brushed against a backdrop of new-frontier sonic processes.

SonitusLive founder and Oram Awards winner Loula Yorke opens the album with a rich harmonic blanket of organ and vocals before Neil Luck’s truly unique ‘Polka Dots and Moonbeams’ compiles shreds of heavily swung double bass, guitar and jazz organ like you’ve never heard before, fronted by an alien lead vocal. Further electronic offerings include Montreal based digital and performance artist Myriam Bleau, Bristol’s E B U, Accidental label mainstay Kirk Barley (Bambooman/Church Andrews) and prolific producer and former Brownswood Bubbler Elsa Hewitt.

Liverpool based composer Liam Carey’s ‘Here Comes The Other’ hears a duet played out between acoustic and electronic harps whilst Chicago via Portland composer Dominic Voz offers up a serene collage of harp, spoken word and bass clarinet. Instrument builder and producer Craig Scott’s frenetic ‘Lay eggs And Die’ is acoustically performed by an army of robots built by the composer.

East London violinist and composer Ellie Wilson’s dark and brooding ‘Will I Dream’ gradually reveals it’s powerful solo strings against a wash of electric rhythm before New York’s Like A Villain aka Holland Andrews ends the exploration with an explosion of twisted and distorted vocals to leave you wondering when volume two of Antechamber Music might appear.

The compilation is available on limited edition silver and red glittered cassette tape as well as digitally from 30th July 2021.
