Limited edition red vinyl in a screen printed sleeve that comes with a specially produced ECZEMA! tote bag.
ECZEMA! written and directed by Maria Fusco explores the life of eczema, a skin condition affecting an estimated 15 million people in the UK, including the writer herself. Fusco's black comedy which powerfully embodies what it is to live in co-occupation and incessant dialogue with the disease, will premiere at the Wales Millennium Centre on 28th July 2018.
One voice (Rhodri Meilir) is in desperate dialogue with the great pipe organ in the BBC Hoddinott Hall. ECZEMA! is set to a specially composed score, by John Harris, made from motion-captured scratching, to create a compelling vision of this ubiquitous skin disease.
This release is a partnership between Maria Fusco, National Theatre Wales and Accidental Records.
"an extraordinary text... The scored irritation progressed in paroxysmic rhythms, unleashing the auto-erotics and benignly directed passions of intense itching... a study of the body’s miscellany of culturally freighted products and vulgarities"
- Holly Pester, frieze
"Restless, animalistic rhythm formed the sonic and conceptual backbone of the piece, and a direct channelling of eczema’s definitive gesture: the scratch.... eczema reminds us of the stranger and strangeness within ourselves"
- Daisy Lafarge, The White Review
